Woman killed in elephant attack

A woman was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Kawkhali upazila of Rangamati on Friday evening.

Deceased Messi Marma, 47, was the wife of Paiyang Marma, a resident of Shamukchhari’s Matichhara area in the upazila.

A wild elephant entered the area in the evening and vandalised houses and crops field there.

Messi Marma alongwith her three children took shelter inside a jungle as the elephant attacked Paiyang Marma’s house. But she was trampled to death by the hungry elephant.

Kawkhali upazila parishad vice-chairman Angpru Marma confirmed the matter.

Every year, wild elephants enter the areas in search of foods.
