12 killed in road mishaps in 7 dists

Twelve people were killed and 26 others injured in separate road accidents in seven districts- Bogura, Shariatpur, Noakhali, Khulna, Cumilla, Brahmanbaria and Dinajpur, recently.
BOGURA: Two youths were killed in separate road accidents in Dhunat and Shahjahanpur upazilas of the district on Wednesday.  
A youth was killed in a road accident in Dhunat Upazila on Wednesday evening.
Deceased Joni Akanda, 15, was the son of Alauddin Akanda of Barabila Village in Gosaibari Union of the upazila.
Local sources said Joni with his friend Swapan was going to Dhunat riding a motorcycle at 11am. At that time, another motorcycle hit his motorcycle in front of Sarker Bari in Barabila Village, leaving Joni seriously injured.
Locals took him to Dhunat Health Complex primarily and later, shifted to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital (SZMCH), where he died at 7pm.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dhunat Police Station (PS) Ismail Hossain confirmed the incident. An unnatural death case was filed in this connection, the OC added.
On the other hand, a college student who was injured in a road accident at Chawkjora Village in Shahjahanpur Upazila of the district on Tuesday evening, died at SZMCH on Wednesday night.
Deceased Enamul Haque, 24, was the son of Mozahar Ali of the village, and a student of class XII at Bogura Government College.
Ashekpur Union Parishad Chairman Firoz Alam said the student was riding a motorcycle on Tuesday evening. Suddenly, he lost control over the bike and dashed a roadside tree, leaving him seriously injured.
Later, he died at SZMCH on Wednesday night.
In-Charge of SZMCH police outpost Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdul Aziz Mondal confirmed the incident and said the body was handed over to family members.
SHARIATPUR: Three persons were killed and 20 others injured as a bus fell in a ditch beside the Shariatpur-Damudya Road in Khejurtala area under Damudya Upazila of the district on Tuesday morning.
The deceased were identified as Kamruzzaman, 40, son of Nuruzzaman Munshi of Sidya Village, Julhas, 28, son of late Khalek Mollah of Kulkari, and Yakub Pike, son of Tamizuddin Pike of Baranoga Village in the upazila.
The injured were treated at Damudya Upazila Health Complex.
Damudya PS OC Md Mehedi Hasan confirmed the incident.
NOAKHALI: A motorcyclist was crushed under a bus in Gabua Upashahar area under Begumganj Upazila of the district on Tuesday morning.
Deceased Md Yasin, 35, was the son late Nurul Islam Master of Azizpur Village under Kabilpur Union in Senbag Upazila of the district.
Begumganj PS  OC (Investigation) Nure Alam said the bus crushed the biker in the said area, leaving her seriously injured.
He was rushed to Noakhali General Hospital where he was declared dead.
KHULNA: A police constable was killed in a road accident in front of Debipur Womens' College under Rupsha Upazila of the district on Monday morning.
Deceased Md Nazrul Islam, 40, was the son of late Yusuf Mollick of Naihati Village in the upazila.
Sources said a three-wheeler collided head-on with a motorcycle in the said area, leaving the constable injured.
He was rushed to local health complex where on-duty doctor declared him dead, said Rupsha PS OC Mollah Zakir Hossain.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Khulna Medical College Hospital for an autopsy, the OC added.
CUMILLA: Three persons were killed and six others injured as the gas cylinder of a microbus exploded after being hit by a bus and a truck in Sadar Upazila of the district on Sunday.
The deceased remain unidentified yet.
Maynamoti Highway PS OC Alamgir Hossain said the gas cylinder of the microbus went off after being hit by a bus first and then by a truck at about 5:30 am, leaving three of its passengers dead on the spot.
The injured were rushed to Cumilla Medical College Hospital from where they were referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as their condition deteriorated, the OC added.  
BRAHMANBARIA: A CNG-run auto rickshaw driver was killed in a road accident in Sadar Upazila of the district on Sunday morning.
Deceased Sojib Miah, 22, was the son of Murtuj Ali of Kachaeet Village in the upazila.
Police said, a car hit the CNG-run auto rickshaw in Bhadughar Fatapukur area in the morning, leaving its driver dead on the spot.
The body was sent to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
DINAJPUR: A woman was killed in a road accident in Nawabganj Upazila of the district on Friday afternoon.
Deceased Rukhsana Begum, 40, was a resident of Shawgunkhola Village in the upazila.
Eyewitnesses said a tractor ran over Rukhsana as its driver lost its control while getting up the road from a farming land in Shawgunkhola area, leaving her critically injured.
Rukhsana was rushed to Nawabganj Upazila Health Complex where physician Tajin Hasnat Riad declared her dead.
