A writ petition has been filed with the High Court seeking compensation Tk 10 crore over the death of Naimul Abrar, a student of Dhaka Residential Model College (DRMC), from electrocution at a programme of 'Kishor Alo'.

It was claimed in the writ that death of Naimul Abrar is not only incident but negligence from people concerned caused the death.

On behalf of the college former student Obayed Ahmed, Supreme Court lawyer Faizullah Fayez made the writ petition on Thursday. 

Power secretary, information secretary, education secretary, Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) chairman, Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited's (DPDC) managing director, Dhaka Electric Supply Company (DESCO) managing director, daily Prothom Alo publisher, editor and Dhaka Residential Model School and College principal were made respondents in the writ.

Naimul Abrar, a student of class IX, was electrocuted while the function was going on October 1. Later, he was declared dead at Universal Medical College Hospital in Mohakhali.
