Tajul urges WB to increase support in development

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Tajul Islam on Tuesday urged the World Bank (WB) to increase its participation in the country’s development through providing more soft loan and financial assistance.
The minister made the call while meeting with a WB delegation, led by its Country Director for Bangladesh Mercy Miyang Tembon, at secretariat in the city, said a press release, reports BSS.
Tajul Islam said the government is working for ensuring fresh drinking water, proper sanitation and waste management. “We have taken different plans for implementing the announcement of the government ‘My Village My Town,” he added.
Mercy Miyang Tembon said WB wants to provide support to Bangladesh in ‘My Village My Town’ programme, transportation, infrastructure and human resources development.
Additional Secretary of the Local Government Division Dr Kazi Anwarul Islam and Chief Engineer of the Local Government Engineering Department Engineer Khalilur Rahman, among others, were present on the occasion.
