Train collision victims identified

Sixteen people were killed and scores injured in a collision between two train in Mandobag area under Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria early Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Mujibur Rahman,55, of Paschim Rajargaon in Haziganj of Chandpur; Yasin Arafat,12, of Habiganj ;Sujon Ahmed,24, of Tirergaon in Chunarughat of Habiganj; Jaheda Khatun,30, of Moulvibazar; Kulsum Begum,30, of Chandpur; Al Amin,30, and Adiba,2, of Baniachang in Habiganj; Ali M Yusuf,32, of Anwarpur in Habiganj; Sohamoni,3, of Brahmanbaria; Farzana,15, of Uttar Balia in Chandpur; Kakali,20, and Maryam,4, of Haimchar in Chandpur; Ripon Mia,25, of Habiganj; Rabi Harijan,23, of Maijdee in Noakhali; Piyara Begum,32, of Chunarughat in Habiganj; and Farzana,15, of Chandpur Sadar.
Four bodies, out of 10 kept at Bayek Shiksha Sadan High School, have been handed over to the victims' families.
However, the district administration distributed Tk 25,000 to the family of each victim during the handover of bodies.
District Civil Surgeon Shah Alam said 39 injured were admitted to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital. Condition of 10 was critical, he added.
Besides, 12 injured have been shifted to Cumilla Combined Military Hospital and Cumilla Sadar Hospital while two each to Akhaura health complex and Kasba health complex.
