B'baria train collision: Death toll rises to 16

The death toll from Brahmanbaria trains collision rose to 16 with the recovery of one more body on Tuesday morning.
Fire Service and Civil Defence members recovered the body under the damaged coaches this morning.
A Dhaka-bound train of 'Turna Nishita' collided head-on with a Chattogram-bound 'Udayan Express' in Mandobag area under Kasba upazila around 3am, leaving nine dead on the scene and many others injured.
Of the wounded, two died at Sadar Hospital, three in Kasba Upazila Health Complex and one at Cumilla Sadar Hospital, he said.
Five of the deceased were identified as Al Amin, 35, son of Ayub Hossain, a resident of Baniachong upazila of Habiganj, Md Yusuf, 35, son of Md Hasan, of the same upazila, Sujon, 24, of Chunarughat upazila, Majibur Rahman, 50, and his wife Kulsuma, 42, of Chandpur.
Akhaura Railway Police Station OC Shyamol Kanti Das said the death toll may rise as many people are still trapped.
Deputy Commissioner of the district Hayat-ud-Dawla assumed that the Turna Nishita entered the rail line defying signal and hit the Udayan Express.
Chattogram's rail communication with Dhaka and Sylhet resumed around 10:50am which was suspended for eight hours following the fatal accident.
Meanwhile, three probe bodies have been formed to investigate the main reason behind the accident.
Railway ministry and district administration will give Tk 1 lakh and Tk 25,000 to each of the dead victim’s family respectively.
