Celebrating 50 Years Of ARCASIA
Hatirjheel waters sparkled with spectacular laser and fireworks
The Asian architects' apex body organisation ARCASIA has completed it's 50 years this year. Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) is celebrating this event in Dhaka along with the ARCASIA FORUM 20 event. Dhaka North City Mayor Atiqul Islam graced the event as the chief guest.
Wednesday night, an extravagant cultural programme started with 21 boats on the water sailing to the sound of 50 Dhols and ended with a spectacular laser and fireworks display.
The 50 years' celebration of ARCASIA was held at Hatirjheel amphitheatre area, titled, 'Suborno-totey: of Light & Rainbow' on 6 November 2019 Arranged by Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB), the 4th day event part of ARCASIA FORUM20DHAKA19, Nov 3-7, was enjoyed by 21 presidents of ARCASIA member countries and participant architects from home & abroad.
Presidents of 21-member country institutions along with architects from home and abroad enjoyed the show .
The convener of the 50 years of ARCASIA celebration committee, Ar. Qazi M. Arif said, IAB is pleased and honored to arrange this event to uphold the spirit of friendship and cooperation among Asian architect community.
The Architects Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA) consists of all the Presidents of the National Institutes.
The organization itself serves as an extension for each member institutes' regional programme and relations. Annual meetings are held in different member institute countries, to deliberate and to give collective directions and representation to matters that affect the architectural profession in the Asian region. ARCASIA originated initially during the 1967 Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA) New Delhi Conference.
Member countries are: Bhutan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Laos, Mayanmar, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunai, Singapore, Phillipines, Vietnam, Macau, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Mongolia.
