A man was killed allegedly in an attack by his rivals in Sirajdikhan upazila of Munshiganj on Friday afternoon over land dispute.

Deceased Mir Ali, 55, was a resident of Purba Chanderchar village in the upazila.

Locals said Mir Ali had been at loggerheads with his co-villager Kajim Uddin Kamu over the ownership of a piece of land.

As a sequel to the dispute, an altercation took place this afternoon.

At one point, Kajim and his cohorts attacked Mir Ali's family, leaving Mir Ali, his brother Md Aziz Molla, 45, and sister Shahida Begum, 50, injured.

The injured were rushed to Sirajdikhan Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared Mir Ali dead.

But, no injury marks were found on the deceased's body, said the health complex physician Md Shafiqur Rahman.

Meanwhile, Sirajdikhan Police Station officer in-charge Md Farid Uddin said the body was sent to Munshiganj General Hospital morgue and the reason behind the death will be known after an autopsy.
