4 convicted, 18 expelled in JSC exams in 2 dists
Four persons including a woman staff were convicted and 18 others expelled for adopting unfair means in Junior School Certificate (JSC) examination in two districts- Bhola and Barishal, recently.
LALMOHAN, BHOLA: A woman was convicted and six others expelled in separate incidents during JSC examination in Lalmohan Upazila of the district recently.
Lalmohan Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Habibul Hasan Rumi awarded a woman seven-day jail for supplying MCQ answer sheet during JSC examination in Lalmohan Upazila of the district on Wednesday.
Convicted Bibi Rahima is a staff of Lalmohan Girls' High School.
UNO Habibul Hasan Rumi said in-charge of Lalmohan Girls' High School centre caught Bibi Rahima red-handed, while she was supplying the MCQ answer sheet to the examinees of Islamic and Ethical Studies subject.
Later, the UNO convicted her.
On the other hand, a total of six persons including four teachers and two examinees were expelled during Junior School Certificate (JSC) English examination in Lalmohan Upazila of the district on Monday.
Among the expelled, three teachers and two examinees were expelled from Lalmohan Girls' High School centre and another teacher from Government Model High School centre.
All of them were accused for adopting unfair means in the examination.
The expelled teachers are: Md Nurnabi of Nazirpur Government Primary School, Md Jahirul Islam of Ashrafnagar High School, Md Shahin of Hajjir Haat High School, and Dipankar Das of Janata Bazaar High School.
The expelled examinees are: Mobarak of Collegiate High School, and Mansura Begum of Janata Bazaar High School.
UNO Habibul Hasan Rumi, in a drive, expelled them.
Upazila Secondary Education Officer Md Rafiqul Islam confirmed the incident.
BARISHAL: Three teachers were convicted and 12 examinees expelled in separate incidents during JSC examination under the education board on Monday. A mobile court sentenced a teacher to jail and fined two others for adopting unfair means in JSC examination in Uzirpur Upazila of the district on Monday.
Of the teachers, Abul Kalam Azad, assistant teacher of English in Choumohona Ideal High School, was awarded seven-day jail, and Hafizur Rahman, assistant teacher of Satla School and College, and Shilpi Sarker, assistant teacher of Harta School and College were fined Tk 10,000 each.
Sources said, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and executive magistrate Md Mahbub Ullah Majumder caught the three red-handed during his visit to Harta School and College centre.
Later, he conducted a mobile court and declared the verdict.
On the other hand, a total of 3,098 examinees were absent and 12 others expelled for adopting unfair means in English examination of JSC under Barishal Education Board on Monday.
Of the candidates, 871 were absent in Barishal, 318 in Jhalakati, 373 in Pirojpur, 573 in Patuakhali, 347 in Barguna, and 616 in Bhola districts.
Among the 12 expelled, four examinees are from Bhola, three from Barishal, three from Patuakhali, and two from Barguna districts.
