300 children deprived of education for lack of school at Patnitala
PATNITALA, NAOGAON, Nov 7: Over 300 children are deprived of primary education for lack of school in Halimnagar Village under Patnitala Upazila of the district.
Locals demanded establishment of an educational institution for the kids here.
While visiting the area, it was known that there are over 400 children in about 250 families in the village. Among them, over 300 minors have become eligible for going to school. Due to lack of any educational institution in 4 to 5 km area, they are now being deprived of education.
Besides, the guardians are also suffering a lot in this connection. Due to much distance of the nearest school, the kids are now getting more interest in collecting dry leafs from local gardens and forests. As a result, a huge number of children are remaining illiterate.
In this connection, locals urged the authority concerned, including Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and education minister, to establish a government primary school in the area.
Nirmoil Union Parishad Chairman Abul Kalam Azad said most of the guardians of the children here are illiterate. Many guardians are now living in rented houses in Sapahar Upazila for their kids' education, he added.
Patnitala Upazila Primary Education Officer Habibur Rahman said steps will be taken to establish a school after conducting a proper survey in the area.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Liton Sarker said he does not know this as he joined here recently. It is very unusual that there is no school here during the present government's tenure. However, the administration will take steps after conducting a proper survey in the area with the help of upazila primary education office.
