Mahmudullah named T20i skipper, Mominul for Test
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced revised T20i squad and Test team ahead of the India tour soon after the news of the ICC embargo on Shakib Al Hasan came to light on Tuesday evening. Mahmudullah Riyad is set to succeed Shakib as T20i captain while Mominul Haque to take the charge of the Test team.
The BCB announced a 15-man T20i squad on October 17 for three-match T20i series in India against the host. But opener Tamim Iqbal had withdrawn his name from India trip to spend time with his pregnant wife while all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin unnamed from the squad since he went out of action for about three months due to back pain.
Selectors however, called in Imrul Kayes as Tamim Iqbal's back-up during practice session but surprisingly he was dropped from the revised squad and Mohammad Mithun regained national call whereas pace bowling all-rounder Abu Hider Rony substituted Mohammad Saifuddin in the T20i squad.
Saif Hasan is the only uncapped name in the Tests squad while Al Amin Hossain returned to the Test team after five years. Imrul Kayes was not even considered for longer version troop.
Tigers will travel to India to play three T20i matches followed by two Tests between November 3 and 26.
