CHATTOGRAM, Oct 22: One ship breaking yard worker was allegedly beaten to death for stealing a mobile phone set in Sitakunda Police Station under Chattogram district on Tuesday.

The victim was identified as Ezahar Mia,27, son of Mafizur Rahman of Bhatiyari Union Parishad under Sitakuna Upazila. Ezahar was a worker of a local ship breaking yard.
The arrested SI was identified as Iqbal Parvez Raihan, of Guimara Police Station under Khagrachari district and his brother-in-law Mizanur Rahman.
SI Iqbal Parvez Raihan is now deputed to Chattogram district Police Range Reserve force.
The Family of SI Raihan is living in Sitakunda area.
According to Sitakunda Police, one mobile set of SI Raihan's sister was stolen. They suspected that Ezahar Mia had stolen it.
So, Raihan's sister complained it to him. Accordingly, Raihan picked up Ezahar Mia from his house on Monday night.
It is alleged that SI Raihan and his brother-in-law Mizanur Rahman beat Ezahar mercilessly, which led to his death.
Ezahar was rushed to a local hospital. But the doctors declared him dead.
Talking to the Daily Observer, Shamim Sheikh Officer-in-charge (Investigation) of Sitakunda Police Station said that investigation has been continuing in this connection.
