Current nets worth 2cr seized in Munshiganj

Illegal current nets worth around Tk 2.26 crore were seized from Sadar upazila of Munshiganj on Tuesday.
A team, led by additional secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Kazi Wasi Uddin, raided five current nets factories in Muktarpur area in the upazila from Tuesday morning till evening.
The team seized three crore meters of current nets, three mosquito net-laden trucks and one Behundi net-laden truck from the factories.
Kazi Wasi said the current nets have been manufactured in the area defying the government ban on making and selling of these kinds of nets.
The factories will be sealed off and the drives will be continued, Kazi Wasi added.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of River Police Atikul Islam, Additional DIG Shafiqul Islam, Superintendent of Naval Police in Dhaka zone, Superintendent of Police in Munshiganj and the district Fisheries Officer Md Zillur Rahman, among others, were present during the drive.
