In the 27 years of inception fifty lakh graduated from National University : Prof Dr Harun-or-Rashid

On the occasion of 27th anniversary of the National University (NU), discussion meeting and colourful events were held at the main campus of Gazipur yesterday.
Vice-Chancellor of NU Prof Dr Harun-or-Rashid presided over the discussion meeting where Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) Mayor Advocate Mohammad Jahangir Alam was present as chief guest. Former Vice-Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University and UGC Prof Dr Abdul Mannan Akand was present as the guest of honour at the event.
Dr Harun-or-Rashid said, "In the 27 years since the inception of this university, about 50 lakh students have graduated. These graduates are making significant contributions to the national development of the country. The major challenge is to ensure quality education after the miseries of session jam is resolved. After taking over the responsibility of the present administration, the initiative was taken to put the administrative and educational programmes of the university in place. As part of this, the administrative activities were decentralized. At present all university activities are conducted on IT-based basis. E-filing and mobile apps have been introduced to provide immediate information to teachers and students. CEDP, College Performance Ranking, Model College Project have been adopted to improve college education". A 'Vice-Chancellor Award' will be launched soon for talented students, he also added.
GCC Mayor Mohammad Jahangir Alam said, "Many public universities in the country are thriving in conducting educational activities with 5/20 thousand students. And the National University is being managed in a very orderly manner with 2 million students. This is possible because of the efficient leadership of the current Vice-Chancellor. We have a lot to learn from this university".
