Govt appoints 9 additional judges to HC

The government has appointed nine new additional judges for the High Court division of Supreme Court on Sunday.
Following an order of the President, the law ministry issued a circular in this regard.
The new judges are District and Session Judge Muhammad Mahbub-ul-Islam, District and Session Judge Shahed Nuruddin, SC Registrar General Dr Md Zakir Hossain, District and Session Judge Md Akhtaruzzaman, Advocate Md Mahmud Hasan Talukder, Advocate Kazi Ebadat Hossain, Deputy Attorney General KM Zahid Sarwar, Deputy Attorney General AKM Zahirul Haque and Deputy Attorney General Kazi Zinat Hoque.
Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain is likely to administer oath to the new HC judges today (Monday), said Saifur Rahman, a special officer of the Supreme Court, told the media on Sunday.
The newly appointed justices will serve on a temporary basis for two years after which the government will make them permanent based on their performance.
