KISHOREGANJ, Oct 19: Lawyers have boycotted a court in the district for an indefinite period over misbehaving with a fellow and handcuffing him on Wednesday.
In an emergency meeting on the same day, District Bar Association President Advocate Mia Md Ferdaus and General Secretary Advocate Md Shahidul Alam Shahid announced boycotting the court of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-2 Judge Md Solaiman.
Mir Iqbal Hossain, a lawyer of the court, was locked in an altercation with the judge after the latter asked the former to stop talking over phone while reading a file during the court proceedings on Wednesday. The judge, later, gave order the on-duty police to handcuff him.
Being informed, other lawyers rushed to the court and rescued him from being detained by law-enforcers.
The association declared to boycott the court until the judge is withdrawn from Kishoreganj and urged the Supreme Court registrar and secretary of the Ministry of Law to remove the judge immediately.
