Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi has suggested the National Board of Revenue (NBR) not to realize revenue with force rather to coordinate with all for advancement of the country.
There is necessity of revenue but it should not be realized by sending force, the minister remarked at a seminar titled 'Fostering Global Free Trade Relations' in Dhaka on Saturday.
Commonwealth of Independent States - Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CIS-BCCI), a joint Chamber, arranged the programme.
CIS-BCCI president Md Habibullah Don presided over the programme while Dhaka North City Corporation mayor Atiqul Islam, Prime Minister's principal secretary Nazibur Rahman, NBR former chairman Abdul Mazid and commerce secretary Md. Zafar Uddin, among others, spoke.
Tipu Munshi said NBR should take opinion from Tariff Commission, Ministry of Industry and other institutions concerned in the process of realizing revenue.
He said, "Money is needed but it is also important to help the country move forward. Many eras ago, kings collect money from the farmers by sending force. Instead of doing like this now, we have to think how to raise the country's economy."
