Child goes missing in Meghna river


A five-year-old boy has gone missing in the Meghna River in Daulatkhan upazila of Bhola.

Missing Zunaid is the son of Amjad Hossain, a resident of ward no. 9 under Charpata union in the upazila.

Locals said Zunaid along with his cousin went to play in Machhghat area along the bank of Meghna River on Thursday noon. Suddenly, he slipped into the river and washed away by strong currents.

Daulatkhan Fire service and Civil Defense Station were informed in the evening, but it could not conduct a rescue operation due to lack of diver, said the station fire service personnel Md Aminul Islam Sumon.





Later, a team of divers from Barishal Fire Service and Civil Defense Station rushed to the spot on Friday and conducted a rescue operation for two hours. But, their attempt went in vain, the fire service personnel added.
