Lawyers boycott court over misbehaviour
Lawyers have boycotted a court in Kishoreganj for an indefinite period over misbehaving with a fellow of them and handcuffing him.
In an emergency meeting on Wednesday, the district Bar Association president advocate Mia Md Ferdaus and secretary general advocate Md Shahidul Alam Shahid announced to boycott the court of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal- 2 Judge Md Solaiman.
Mir Iqbal Hossain, a lawyer of the court, locked an altercation with the judge after the latter asked the former to stop talking over phone while reading a file during the court proceedings on Wednesday. The judge, later, gave order the on-duty police to handcuff him.
Being informed, other lawyers rushed to the court and rescued him from being detained by law enforcers. And then, the association came out to the decision.
The association declared to boycott the court until the judge is withdrawn from Kishoreganj and urged the Supreme Court registrar and the secretary of the law ministry to remove the judge immediately.
It also decided to abstain from the activities of all courts in the district on October 17 on protest of the judge's misbehavior and unlawful act.
