Fisherman beaten dead in Pirojpur

BHANDARIA, PIROJPUR, Oct 13: A fisherman was beaten to death by another fisherman in a clash at Bhandaria Upazila of the district on Friday evening.
Deceased Rafiqul Hawlader, 23, was the son of Motaleb Hawlader of Laxmipura Village in the upazila.
Police and locals said Rafiqul was beaten by Abdul Mannan Munshi, son of Abdul Khalek Munshi of the village, while catching fish in the Pona River of the upazila on Friday evening. The clash happened over setting fishing nets in the river. At one point, Mannan threw injured Rafiqul into the river.
Police and a rescue team of Barishal Fire Service recovered the body at 10pm, said Barishal Fire Service Station Officer Sharafat Ali Tuhin.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhandaria Police Station (PS) SM Maksudur Rahman confirmed the incident and said the body was sent to morgue for an autopsy.
Deceased's father Motaleb Hossen lodged a case with the PS in this connection.
