7 killed in road mishaps in three districts

Seven persons were killed and eight others injured in separate road accidents in three districts- Jamalpur, Rajshahi and Gazipur, in two days.
JAMALPUR: Two persons were killed and five others injured in a road accident in Madarganj Upazila of the district on Friday evening.
The deceased were identified as Sadia Akhter Mim, 11-month-old daughter of Mohir Uddin of Uttar Zorkhali Village, and Riaz Ahmed, 22, son of Sultan Ahmed of Nishchintapur Village in Madarganj Upazila of the district.
Police said a speeding motorcycle with three persons including Riaz Ahmed collided head-on with a battery-run auto-rickshaw in Milon Bazaar area of the upazila, leaving auto-rickshaw passenger Sadia Akhter Mim dead on the spot and Riaz Ahmed injured. Later, he died on the way to Jamalpur General Hospital.
In the accident, Mim's mother Asha, 25, brother Jhantu, 5, auto-rickshaw driver Ibrahim, 48, and motorcyclists Lemon Sarkar, 18, and Shifat, 18, were injured.
Police said seriously injured Asha and her son Jhantu were referred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
RAJSHAHI: A woman was killed as a passenger-laden bus turned turtle on road in Nandanpara Chikabari Bazaar area under Baghmara Upazila of the district on Friday.
Deceased Delura alias Dinah Begum, 40, was the wife of Emdadul Haque Tunu of Deulia Village in the upazila.
Eyewitnesses and police said a Rajshahi-bound bus turned turtle in the said area, leaving the woman seriously injured.
She was rushed to Upazila Health Complex where she was declared dead.
Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bagmara Police Station (PS) Ataur Rahman said necessary steps would be taken in this connection.
SREEPUR, GAZIPUR: Four people were killed and three others injured as a truck overturned on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Masterbari area under Sreepur Upazila of the district on Thursday night.
The deceased were identified as Jahangir, 25, son of Mujibur Rahman Kalon, and Saiful, 24, son of Alfaz Uddin of Bachhur Algi Village under Nakla Upazila of Sherpur District, Badsha Mia, 19, son of Ahammad Ali of Daulatpur Village under Gouripur Upazila of Mymensingh District, and Rafiqul Islam, 53, son of late Safir Uddin of Kailati Village of Netrakona District.
Mawna Highway PS OC Md Manjur Hossain said a Dhaka-bound truck overturned on the highway at 11:15pm after hitting a road divider, leaving three pedestrians dead on the spot and four others injured.
The injured were taken to a local hospital. Later, another died at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital early Friday.
Police arrested the truck driver Badsha, 38, son of Abdus Sattar of Sirajganj District.
The bodies were kept at the police outpost.
Police, however, detained the truck driver Badshah, 38.
