Fish traders fined for selling mother hilsha


A mobile court in Sirajganj on Wednesday morning fined two fish traders Tk 10,000 for selling hilsha in a market in Tarash upazila, defying the government ban on catching and selling the fish during its breeding season from October 9 to 30.

On information, the upazila fisheries officer Hasan Mahmdul Haque conducted a drive at Paura Bazar and detained Sobuj Hasan, and Nurul Pramanik and seized about 80 kilograms of mother hilsha fish from their possessions. 





Later, the mobile court, led by upazila nirbahi officer and executive magistrate Md Obaidullah, fined them Tk 5,000 each and distributed the seized hilsha among 12 orphanages in the upazila.
