College student dies after 'taking liquor'

A college student has died reportedly after consuming excessive liquor in Baraigram upazila of Natore district.

Deceased Sree Pranto Sarker, 21, was a honors second-year student at Nawab Siraj ud-Daulah Government College. He was the son of Ranjit Sarker, a resident of Diarpara area under Banpara municipality.

Locals said Pranto along with his friends took excessive liquor on Tuesday afternoon when they were celebrating Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of Hindu community, and then, he fell sick.

The peers took him to a local hospital where he died on Tuesday night.

Confirming the matter, Banpara Police Investigation Center in-charge inspector Najmul Haque said the body was sent to a hospital morgue on Wednesday.
