Woman dies of dengue in Khulna

A woman died of mosquito-borne disease dengue at Khulna Medical College Hospital on Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Rafi Begum, 45, wife of Motu Russel, hailed from Sadar upazila of Goplaganj.

Dr Shoilendranath Biswas, resident doctor of KMCH, said Rafi Begum was admitted to the hospital with dengue fever on Tuesday night.

He died at the hospital around 10am.

Nineteen people have reportedly died of dengue in Khulna this year.

Meanwhile, 267 people were hospitalised with the mosquito-borne disease in 24 hours till Tuesday morning. Currently, 1,316 dengue patients are being treated at different hospitals.

The government said 90,545 people were hospitalised with dengue across the country since the beginning of the year. Of them, 88,987 recovered fully.

The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) confirmed the deaths of 81 dengue patients after reviewing 136 reports out of 242 cases.
