Bangladesh U-19 tour to New Zealand
Young Tigers seal title 3-0
Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket Team blew away hosts New Zealand Under-19 Cricket Team by eight wickets in the 3rd duel of the five-match Youth ODI series on Sunday at Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln and secured the title keeping two matches at hand.
Bangladesh preferred to chase winning the toss in the morning and tied home boys at 223 for eight. Kiwi batters had to frostbite against little Tigers bowlers except one-down batsman Fergus Lellman. The right handed batter hit a daddy hundred to give his side a respectable total. He was unbeaten scoring 116 runs. Avishek Das, Tanzim Sakib and debutant Hasan Murad shared two wickets apiece for Bangladesh.
Chasing 224, Bangladesh reached to the winning post convincingly despite they lost their opener Anik Sarkar Shatu to score 11 runs only. But Mahmudul Hasan Joy's ton well supported by two half centuries from Tanzid Hasan and Towhid Hridoy ensured persuasive victory for Bangladesh.
Joy horded unbeaten 103 from 95 deliveries with 16 boundaries and one over boundary, who missed a century in the second match of the series for one run. Tanzid on the other hand, collected 65 runs while Towhid was not out stockpiling 51 as Bangladesh were at 229 for two and certified victory with 79 balls to spare.
Guests outclassed hosts by six wickets in both the previous clashes to take 3-0 lead in the series.
However, the fourth and penultimate game of the series is scheduled to take place on October 9 and the last clash will be held on October 13. Both the matches will be hosted by the Bert Sutcliffe Oval.
