Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that nobody in the ruling Awami League and other political parties will be spared if he or she is found involved in corruption and any other unethical activities.
The Home Minister came up with the warning while speaking at an orientation programme at North South University in the city on Saturday.
"Detectives are identifying people who are involved in criminal activities and after getting the list we will take actions against them," he said.
"None will be spared for wrongdoings as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has adopted 'Zero Tolerance' policy to this end," he also said. "Neither a corrupt people's representative nor a civil servant will be spared in line with the prime minister's instruction," the minister said
"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina ordered the law enforcement agencies to take stern action against gambling, narcotics and terrorism a day before she left for New York on Sept 20 to attend the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly," he added.
Kamal said the government is taking action against those who face the charges of illicit activities.
Speaking of GK Shamim, who was arrested in possession with arms and a huge amount of money in Dhaka on Friday, Kamal said he (Shamim) would face trial and the government would probe more allegations against him.
The law enforcement agencies are now keeping corrupt people and who abuses power under its watch, the minister warned.
"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina considers corruption a challenge to establishing good governance," Kamal quoted her as saying.
"Sustainable peace and stability, as well as security, are the prerequisites for a sustainable development and the government are working.
