474 mandaps getting ready for Durga Puja in 2 dists
A total of 474 mandaps are getting ready for Durga Puja in two districts- Natore and Rajshahi.
NATORE: This year's Durga Puja will be held at 375 mandaps in the district.
In this connection, Natore District Administration organised a meeting at its conference room on Tuesday with Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Shahriaz in the chair.
After a long discussion, the meeting adopted various decisions to celebrate the puja peacefully in the district.
It was decided at the meeting that a monitoring committee will be formed headed by additional district magistrate. It will work in the town area while at upazila level all upazila nirbahi officers (UNOs) will do the same.
A six-member police team including Ansar will be on-duty at each important mandap and a four-member team will work at each general mandap.
Besides, extra police force in plain clothes will be deployed at all the mandaps.
Moreover, the members of all puja committees will perform their duties at the mandaps.
The meeting also gave direction to the concerned departments about traffic management, electricity supply and narcotics control.
The meeting further informed that last year 372 puja mandaps were built in the district for the festival, and this time it is 375. The government will distribute free rice to each mandap to feed the devotees.
Among others, acting Police Super Akram Hossen, Additional DC Md Ashraful Islam, Natore Municipality Mayor and President of Puja Observation Committee Uma Chowdhury Jolly, and UNOs of seven upazilas of the district and the leaders of puja committees were also present and spoke in the meeting.
RAJSHAHI: A total of 99 mandaps in the city are getting ready for celebrating Durga Puja, the largest religious festival of the Hindu community, this year.
A discussion meeting about ensuring security measures during the festival was held at Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) commissioner's office with the Hindu leaders on Wednesday.
RMP Police Commissioner Humayun Kabir presided over the meeting while many higher level police officers were also present.
