Jubo League expels Khaled

Jubo League, the youth wing of the ruling Awami League, has expelled its Dhaka South Organising Secretary Khalid Mahmud Bhuiyan for his alleged involvement in unethical activities in the capital.
A letter signed by Jubo League Chairman Omar Faruk Chowdhury was issued in this regard on Friday, a source in the organisation told the Daily Observer.
Contacted, Juba League General Secretary Harun-ur-Rashid said the action was taken against Khalid as several allegations were recently received against him.
On Wednesday, members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested
Khaled Mahmud Bhuiyan from his residence in the capital's Gulshan.
He was arrested for running an illegal casino inside a sports club at Fakirerpool named Youngmen's Club, where he is the president.
RAB carried out simultaneous raids on his home and the club where they seized three firearms, two of them are illegal.
As many 142 people, including two women, were detained from the club. Alcohol, gambling equipment and Tk 2.4 million in cash were seized from there.
The elite force busted a torture cell that Khaled allegedly run in a building near Kamalapur Railway Station and recovered different tools for torture, including two machines to apply electric shock and five sticks.
Rab officials said Khaled used the cell to torture people who refused to give him money as per his demand.
Khaled was placed on a seven-day remand by two separate courts in Dhaka on Thursday in arms and drug cases.
