JL leader Khaled placed on 7-day remand in 2 cases
Jubo League leader Khaled Mahmud Bhuiyan was placed on a seven-day remand by two separate Dhaka courts on Thursday in arms and drug cases.
Metropolitan Magistrate Mahmuda Akhter passed the order in the Arms while Metropolitan Magistrate Shahinoor Rahman passed the order in the Drugs case on Thursday night, said Gulshan General Register Officer (GRO) Rakib Hossain.
He was placed on a four-day remand in the arms case while a three-day in the drug case.
Gulshan police inspector Aminul Islam Inspector (Operations) produced him before the court at 8:30pm with a 14 days remand prayer in two cases. In his forwarding report the IO stated it was essential to send the accused to police custody for proper investigation.
His lawyer advocate Mahmudul Haque pleaded before the court to cancel the remand prayers.
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has filed three cases against Jubo League leader Khaled Mahmud Bhuiyan on charges of running a casino at the Youngmen's Club in Dhaka's Fakirapool.
Aminul Islam. Inspector (Operations) said the cases were filed after Khaled was handed over to Dhaka's Gulshan Police Station on Thursday,
Of the three cases, one was filed under the Firearms Act while another under The Narcotics Control Act as RAB seized three firearms, bullets, and 580 yaba pills from the possession of Khalid during the drive, said the official.
The elite police unit apprehended Khaled from his residence in the capital's Gulshan on Wednesday evening.
