Allegation Of Illegal Enrollment
43 BCL men admitted as per rules: DUCSU AGS Saddam
Assistant General Secretary (AGS) of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) on Tuesday said 43 Chhatra League men were admitted to the
evening course of the Business Faculty as per the guideline of the department.
About the allegation that 34 Chhatra League activists were 'illegally' enrolled into the Business Faculty's evening programme (Master's of Tax Management) Saddam said they were admitted as per the guidelines of the faculty.
It is the department that decided to admit those students without any written test.
Earlier, Dhaka University's Business Faculty Dean Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam claimed that students who completed graduation and post graduation from the university could be enrolled into the evening programme without any written exam.
The dean also said those students only have to sit for a viva voce and there was no admission circular needed for such admission as per a decision made by the Chairman's Committee.
Saddam, also Chhatra League's Dhaka University unit General Secretary, came up with the remark at a press conference in DUCSU seminar room.
Saddam also accused DUCSU Vice President (VP) Nurul Haque Nur of pursuing personal agendas instead of working for the union or the university.
Saying VP Nur had never prioritized in attending DUCSU activities, AGS Md Saddam Hussain claimed Nur along with his own platform Bangladesh General Students' Rights Protection Council - which spearheaded last year's quota reform movement- was working to turn Bangladesh into a fundamentalist state..
His remark came following a question regarding Nur's absence from the press conference.
"Nur has a non-cooperative attitude towards DUCSU programmes. We will discuss the issue of Golam Rabbani retaining the post of DUCSU GS after resigning from his Chhatra League post. The decision will be taken as per the constitution."
Only DUCSU leaders elected from Chhatra League panel were present at the programme.
Among 25 DUCSU members, 23 are nominated from Chhatra League.
