Traditional boat race thrills hundreds

A traditional boat race was held in the Jamuna River near Meghullah area under Belkuchi upazila of Sirajganj district on Monday afternoon.

Sirajganj Zila Parishad arranged the race where competitors from different unions of the upazila took part with traditional boats.

Hundreds of people from Tangail, Pabna an Sirajganj districts gathered on the bank of the river to enjoy the race.
Later, a prize giving ceremony was held.

Lawmaker of Sirajganj-2 Dr Habibe Millat was present as chief guest while Zila Parishad chairman and president of Sirajganj district Awami League (AL) Abdul Latif Biswas presided over the programme.

Among others, district AL unit vice president Mostafa Kamal Khan, chief executive of Zila Parishad Iktekhar Uddin Shamim and Sadar Upazila chairman Riaz Uddin were also present.

The guests distributed prizes among the winners.
