Five policemen put on remand
They were held while sharing looted Yaba pills
Five policemen were placed on remand by a Dhaka court on Monday for distributing and selling Yaba pills which were forcibly taken from dealers of the contraband tablets.
Metropolitan Magistrate Kanak Barua sent three policemen on a three-day remand while two others on a two-day remand. The cops who were sent on three days remand are ASI Masud Ahmed Miazi of Gulshan police, Constable Prashanta Mondal and Nayak Jahangir Alam of APBN.
Those who were granted two days remanded are Constable Rony Mollah and Constable Shariful Islam of APBN. Inspector Paritosh Chandra of Uttara East Police Station produced them before the court with a prayer of seven days police remand for questioning.
The case statement is that a team of Armed Police Battalion (APBN) conducted a drive at barrack bath room on the third floor of the APBN headquarters on Sunday evening where some policemen were engaged in sharing Yaba pills among themselves. Instantly they caught Constable Rony Mollah and Constable Shariful Islam with some Yaba pills. Following their identification they nabbed Constable Prashanta Mondal.
The APBN team recovered 154 pieces of Yaba from his pant pocket. Later police arrested ASI Masud Ahmed Miazi of Gulshan Police Station and Nayak Jahangir Alam in this connection. The APBN team recovered cash worth taka 15,000 from Constable Shariful..
On Wednesday the cops searched Yaba dealers at the check post of Gulshan Gutharaghat and took 350 pieces of Yaba pills from them.
200 pieces of Yaba was put in the custody of ASI Masud Ahmed Miazi and 150 to Jahangir Alam.
In this connection a case was filed with Uttara East Police Station on Monday.
