Spelling competition held at Bauphal
BAUPHAL, PATUAKHALI, Sept 16: A spelling competition centring a scholarship programme held at Bauphal Upazila of the district on Monday.
Rights and Sight for Children (RSC), implementing partner of Distressed Children and Infants International (DCI), in partnership with Ashraful and Nasren Islam Memorial Fund, arranged a spelling competition at East Kalaiya Hasan Siddique Secondary School under the Sun Child Sponsorship Programme (SCSP).
The competition was arranged among the students of Grade Six to Eight. A total of 29 students were finally selected on the basis of their spelling skill.
The purpose of the competition was to enrich their domain of spelling knowledge and develop their competitive mentality of participating in any competition.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Bauphal Pijus Chandra Dey attended the programme as chief guest while Upazila Secondary Education Officer Sahidul Islam, Representative of Ashraful and Nasren Islam Memorial Fund Wahid Rahman, and the officials from RSC, DCI along with all head teachers of high schools concerned were present at the programme.
There are 29 students selected among the 230 primary participants from three schools at the competition while 15 winners of three classes have been awarded with prize money and the rest received consolation prise for their participation. Four teachers have also been awarded for their outstanding contribution to teaching.
