Madrasa principal 'sexually harass' 8 students
Eight female students of a madrasa have allegedly fell victims of sexual harassment by its principal in Akhaura municipal area of Brahmanbaria district.
The victims are the students of An-Noor Islamia Mahila Madrasa and Orphanage in Durgapur village under the municipality.
However, accused principal maulana Shawkat Hossain Ripon and all other teachers of the institution fled the area after the incident came to light.
A tensed situation is now prevailing in that area.
Tajul Islam, a councilor of the municipality, said the principal has sexually harassed a number of students threatening them.
Two students of fifth and sixth grades became sick on Sunday night after being harassed by the principal at his office room, he added.
Being informed about the harassment, guardians of the students gathered on the madrasa campus in the morning to protest the matter.
A sixth grader of the madrasa, also a victim, alleged that the principal sexually harassed eight students after threatening them. A class six student was harassed by the principal at his office room on Sunday night.
One of the victimc is now undergoing treatment at Akhaura Upazila Health Complex.
Akhaura Police Station officer-in-charge Rasul Ahmed Nizami said he has visited the spot.
Police operation is on to arrest the accused.
