BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has demanded immediate resignation or removal of Jahangirnagar University (JU) Vice Chancellor Farzana Islam for 'bribing Chhatra League leaders.'
Earlier on Saturday, BCL president Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon and general secretary Golam Rabbani have been removed from their respective posts following various controversies.
"The name of the JU VC has come out in bribing the BCL leaders. It is learnt that she has already given Tk 1 crore as bribe. Then, why should only two students be removed? What should be done with the VC," he questioned at a human-chain rally on Monday.
Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal organised the rally in front of the Jatiya Press Club demanding the release of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.
He also alleged that the VC and deans of Dhaka University admitted students secretly at night without taking admission test.
"Corruption can't be stopped despite efforts. Every sector is gripped in corruption," he said.
Calling upon the country people to stand firm for their rights and release of party Chairperson Khaleda Zia, the senior BNP leader also said, "None will give us our rights, we've to snatch our rights."
BNP leader Fazlur Rahman, Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, Shirin Sultana and Sadek Ahmed Khan of Muktijoddha Dal were present in the programme, presided over by the organisations vice president Mizanur Rahman Khan.
