'Drug trader' killed in gunfight

A suspected drug dealer was killed during a gunfight with detectives in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh early Saturday.

Deceased Rubel, 30, was an accused in seven cases, including of drugs, DB police said.

District Detective Branch (DB) of police OC Shah Kamal Akan said on secret information that a gang of drug traders selling drugs in Hobirbari area around 2:15am, two teams of DB raided the area.

Sensing the presence of the team, the gang opened fire on the DB police, forcing them to fire back.

Later, the DB police rescued bullet-hit Rubel from the scene and taken him to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
