3 killed in road mishaps
Three persons were killed and 45 others injured in separate road accidents in three districts- Sirajganj, Thakurgaon and Pirojpur, on Thursday.
SIRAJGANJ: Two persons were killed and eight others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck in Sholomile area on Sirajganj-Bogura Highway in Raiganj Upazila of the district on Thursday morning.
The deceased were identified as truck driver Anwar Hossain, 35, of Sariakandi Upazila, and passenger Nazrul Islam of Sherpur Upazila in Bogura District.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Hatikumrul Highway Police Station (PS) Md Akteruzzaman said following the accident two people were killed on the spot and eight others injured.
On information, fire service personnel recovered the bodies and rescued the injured, the OC added.
THAKURGAON: An unidentified man was killed and 17 others were injured in an accident on Dhaka-Thakurgaon highway at Hajjir Mor in Sadar Upazila of the district on Thursday morning.
Police and locals said driver of a Thakurgaon-bound bus from Dhaka lost its control in the said area and dashed a roadside tree, leaving one killed on the spot and 17 others injured.
Thakurgaon Fire Service Station Officer Mofidar Rahman confirmed the incident and said an unnatural death case was filed in this connection.
KAWKHALI, PIROJPUR: At least 20 people were injured in a road accident in Kawkhali Upazila of the district on Thursday evening.
Locals said a bus fell into a roadside ditch at Joykul Village in the upazila at 5:30pm as its driver lost control over steering, leaving 20 passengers injured.
On information, a fire service and civil defence team rushed to the spot and took the injured to Kawkhali Upazila Health Complex.
Kawkhali PS OC Nazrul Islam confirmed the matter.
