2 fish farmers killed in Meherpur

MEHERPUR, Sept 13: Miscreants killed two fish farmers at Sholmari Beel (water body) in Sadar Upazila of the district on Wednesday night.
Police initially believed they might be killed over previous enmity.
The deceased were identified as Rokonuzzaman, 36, son of late Idris Ali Master, and Hasan Ali, 42, son of Azad Ali Biswas of Darbeshpur Village in the district. They were cousins in relation.
Superintendent of Police S M Murad Ali said Rokon and Hasan went to the beel at night. At that time, 10 to 12 armed miscreants stabbed them to death.
On information, police recovered the bodies.
Locals said Sholmari Beel is located near the house of the victims.
They have been cultivating fish in the beel for the last several years taking lease from the                        government.
Rokon and Hasan along with a few men guard the beel every night.
However, families and police are not yet sure who killed them.
