Country's famed archer Ruman Shana who won bronze and silver in different international arenas before had clinched his as well as country's first ever gold medal in any international stage beating his China rival Shi Zenqi in the final of individual recurve men's event of Asia Cup Stage 3 World Ranking Archery 2019 on Friday.
The first set saw a 28-28 draw while Shana lost the second set by 29-26 and made a good move with 27-25 win in the third set and move forward with a 28-25 win in the fourth set. The Khulna-boy confirmed the gold with a 28-27 win in the fifth set.
The 70-meter shooting range of the recurve event began cheering after such an achievement of Ruman Shana.




Clinching the gold was not only a major achievement for the 24-year archer, but also a news of joy for the nation. Bangladesh had achieved bronze and silver in different international events yet the nation was waiting for a gold medal. Ruman made an end to that wait with style winning in a big event like the final of individual recurve men's event of Asia Cup Stage 3 World Ranking Archery 2019.
He clinched a bronze at the Hyundai World Archery Championships in 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands few months back.
Earlier on 7th September, a six-member Bangladesh archery contingent, consisted of four archers Ruman Shana, Tamimul Islam, Hakim Ahmed Rubel and Beauty Roy and German-born head coach Martin Frederick and team manager Anisur Rahman left for Philippines to take part in the Asia Cup Stage 3 World Ranking Archery 2019.
