The government is going to introduce online service of filing general diary (GD) in country's all police stations in view of reducing public sufferings.

"The new service will soon be launched in Dhaka and Mymensingh Metropolitan areas," said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.

The minister was talking to journalists after attending a review meeting on 'Digital case Diary' at the Secretariat on Thursday.

"In the first phase, GD can only be filed for lost and found. Procedure for online police verification is being scrutinized," he said.

Filing of a GD after going to a police station is time consuming, so that we've initiated for filing online GD, the minister said.

The home boss also informed that as per the prime minister’s directives, a project titled 'Swajan' will be introduced in country's all jails so that prisoners can talk to their relatives.

The service has been launched at Tangail district jail on experimental basis.
