Hilsa fishing banned for 22 days from Oct 9


The government has imposed a 22-day ban on catching and selling hilsa from October 9 to ensure safe spawning of the fish during its peak breeding season.

State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Md Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru made the disclosure at Bangladesh Secretariat.

The state minister said, "Catching, transporting and selling hilsa fish during the period will stay fully shut."
