The Leading Light
(For my father, Prof. Md.Abdullah,
And for my teacher, Dr.Fakrul Alam.)
Heartaches won't bother you
Struggles afflict your righteousness so
Yet you let your love adorn all-
How could others feel as deeply as you?
You light up souls of millions,
Offering endlessly your light.
When a distressed soul succumbs
To the sweltering wind of reality,
Feels parched and bare and longs for help
Like the Monsoon you emerge,
Your emotion streams down ceaselessly
You are the leading light.
You seek release from the bondage of any undue will,
A dissenting voice raises within you.
On hearing shrieks of starved and meagre folks
You exude fellow feeling
You are the leading light!
