ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier 2019
Tigresses berth in T20 World Cup beating Ireland in semifinal
Bangladesh National Women's Cricket Team reach the final of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier 2019 and ensured their participation in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in between February 21 and March 8 in 2020 in Australia.
Defending champions Bangladesh beat Ireland by four wickets in the first semifinal of the tournament in progress on Thursday and paved the way to hold the Qualifier trophy for the 3rd consecutive time following to the win in final of September 7.
Earlier on the day, Ireland chose to bat first winning the toss in the morning but were proven wrong against mighty Bangladesh bowling attack. Bangladesh bowlers with both their quicks and turns created the time of Irish batters intolerable. They started to lose wickets at random from the very beginning and were wrapped up at 85. Twin 25 scores from skipper Laura Delany and Eimear Richardson were the notable scores among Irish girls.
Bangladesh leggy Fahima Khatun hauled three wickets. Jahanara Alam, Ritu Moni, Salma Khatun and Nahida Akter shared one wicket each.
Bangladesh in reply, were also in danger losing top four batters cheaply to put 30 runs on the board. But Sanjida Islam's bravery and Ritu Moni's support bring the smile in Tigresses den at last. Sanjida was unbeaten scoring 32 runs while Ritu amassed 15.
Sanjida Islam named the player of the match.
Tigress will meet the winner of the second semifinal of the tournament on Saturday.
