Youth kills stepmother in Mymensingh

MYMENSINGH, Aug 25: A youth allegedly hacked his stepmother to death over family feud in Nandail Upazila of the district on Friday afternoon.
Deceased Mukta Begum, 30, was the second wife of Abdul Helim of Haliura Village in the upazila.
Helim married Mukta about five years back after the death of his first wife. Since the marriage, there were family feuds between Mutka and the children of the first wife, said Monsur Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Nandail Police Station.
Jibon Mia, 19, a stepson of the victim, had an altercation with her on Friday afternoon. At one stage, he hacked her with a knife, leaving her seriously injured.
Neighbours rescued and rushed her to Gafargaon Upazila Health Complex where she was declared dead.
Jibon managed to flee the scene.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Police detained Abdul Helim for interrogation.
