2 get life term for killing trader

A court in Noakhali on Sunday convicted two people and sentenced them to life term in jail in a case filed over killing a trader in 2014.
The lifers are Ashiqur Rahman Piash and Morshed Ali Sumon. Both of them are residents of Chardarbesh village in Sadar upazila.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Faruque handed down the verdict in absentia. The court also fined them Tk 10,000 each, in default, to suffer one year more in jail.
Under article no 411 of the penal code, the court also sentenced them three years' rigorous imprisonment and fined them Tk 10,000 each, in default to suffer six months more in jail.
According to the case statement, Arif Hossain, an oil trader in the upazila, went out of the home on April 17 in 2014, to raise due payment and did not return.
On the next day, police recovered the body of Arif from an arum field behind Ashiqur's house by digging the soil.
Deceased's brother Amir Hossain lodged a case against six people, including Ashiqur and Morshed, with Noakhali Sadar Model Police Station on same day.
