3 held in rape cases
Police have arrested three men in separate cases filed over rape incidents in Sadar and Ashuganj upazilas of Brahmanbaria.
The arrested persons are: Mokhles Mia of Poirotola area, and Kazi Pavel of Ghatura village, in Sadar upazila, and Imon of Moishar village in Ashuganj upazila, police said.
According to the case statement, Mokhles and his companions picked up an 11th grader on her way to home on August 20. He took the girl to Chhoybaria village in the upazila and violated her.
The next day, the victim's mother lodged a case with Sadar Model Police Station.
Police arrested Mokhles on Friday and produced him before a court, said Md Selim, investigation officer of the case and an inspector of the police station.
Yet in another incident, Pavel raped a class four student when she entered his house in the morning of August 23 to sell cow's milk.
During initial investigation, the evidence of rape was found, said inspector Md Atiqur Rahman, adding that medical tests of the victim were completed at Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital.
Pavel was arrested on Friday night and sent to jail on Saturday morning following a court order.
Meanwhile, Imon took his girl friend to a house in Boigor area at night of August 22 with a marriage promise where Imon and his friends raped the girl.
After two days, they boarded the girl on a rickshaw in a critical condition.
The girl was admitted to Ashuganj Upazila Health Complex.
Ashuganj Police Station officer in-charge Md Masud Alam said main accused Imon was arrested.
