One killed, 10 injured in factional clash
A man was killed and 10 others were injured in a factional clash between two rivals of a village in Shazadpur upazila of Sirajganj district on Saturday afternoon.
Deceased Osman Gani, 55, was a resident of Ratankandi village under Habibullah Nagar union in the upazila. He was a vice-president of Ratankandi ward Awami League unit.
Locals said there had a dispute between Habibullah Nagar Union Parishad Chairman Abdul Majid and Torab Ali over establishing supremacy in Ratankandi village.
As a sequel to the dispute, supporters of Torab Ali attacked Majid's supporter Shamsul Alam and his sons this afternoon that led to a clash.
Equipped with lethal weapons, both groups swooped on each other, leaving 11 people injured.
The injured were rushed to Shazadpur Upazila Health Complex.
Of them, Osman was taken to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital (SZMCH) as his condition deteriorated.
Later, Osmani died at SZMCH in the evening while undergoing treatment .
On information, police rushed there and brought the situation under control, said Ataur Rahman, officer in-charge of Shazadpur Police Station
