Rohingya repatriation attempt failed again!
We all know that the Rohingyas are the world's most persecuted ethnic group most of whose are currently living in Bangladesh with refugee status. For decades they are staying here. In 2017 new wave of refugee wave had begun.
Previously, an attempt was taken to repatriate which had proved futile. Again for the second attempt to start repatriation of Rohingyas to Myanmar has turned out to be futile, as hardly any refugees seem to be willing to go back without the surety of fulfilment of their demands.
The demands are trying those who killed and tortured Rohingyas and drove them out of their land; ensuring citizenship and security of Rohingyas; giving back their land and properties; and protecting all fundamental rights of Rohingyas in Myanmar's Rakhine state. Some Rohingyas, on condition of anonymity, said they had told the UNHCR they would not go back to Myanmar if their demands were not met.
Since it is an international issue, international communities should come forward to ensure the basic rights of the Rohingyas.
