Girl rewarded for stopping her early marriage in Natore

NATORE, Aug 23: Gurudaspur Upazila Administration rewarded Beauty Khatun, a student of class nine, as she stopped her early marriage by herself.
The honour was given to Beauty Khatun at law and order situation meeting of the upazila on Thursday. At that time, Beauty herself was present in the meeting and received the award.
The awards were prize bond worth Tk 2,000, a certificate and a book 'Bangabandhu's Ausamapta Jiboni'.
At that time, local lawmaker Md Abdul Quddus, Upazila Chairman Md Anwar Hossain, and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Tomal Hossain were also present.
UNO Tomal Hossain said Beauty's family had arranged her marriage without any her consent on July 28 last. But she disagreed to this considering her early age. Later, being informed, upazila administration stopped the marriage.
