Jubo League leader gunned down


A Jubo League (JL) leader was gunned down allegedly by Rohingya men in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar distrcit on Thursday night.

Deceased Omar Faruque, 30, was the president of Nhilla union's ward-9 Jubo League. Also the president of Jadimura MR Govt Primary School managing committe, Faruque was the son of Md Monaf alias Monaf Company, a resident of Jadimura Pahari area under the union .

The incident took place in Jadimura Pahari area around 10:45 pm.

Locals said an armed group of Ronigya community, led by one Selim, picked up Faruque from in front of his house and shot him to death.

Additional Superintendent of  Cox’s Bazar Police Md Iqbal Hossain said the reason behind the killing is not clear yet.

Police suspect he might have been killed either over establishing supremacy in the area or the transaction of money.
